Editorial & disclosure policy
This site reviews a market its owner sells into. These are the rules that keep that honest.
1. Who owns this site
Murder Mystery Case Files UK is owned and operated by Cases & Clues, a UK company that designs and sells its own murder mystery case file games. This is stated in the footer of every page, on our about page, and here.
2. How the owner's titles are handled
- Every mention of a Cases & Clues case anywhere on this site carries a House pick label at the point of mention — not just in the small print — and every page's footer carries the ownership statement.
- Cases & Clues titles compete in the rankings on the same five criteria as everyone else's: realism of the evidence, escapism, fairness of the mystery, support when you're stuck, and value in pounds. Where a House pick ranks highly, the entry says specifically why — the features behind the position (digital evidence, Detective HQ, alternative endings, food & drink pairings) are named so you can judge whether they matter to you.
- Head-to-head comparison pages between two competitor products stay between those products; we don't insert a House pick as the "real winner" of someone else's match-up.
- The "What to know" sections on Cases & Clues pages are real criticisms. If you think we've soft-pedalled one, tell us.
3. How competitor games are reviewed
Competitor reviews are based on the products as sold, at UK prices, assessed on the same five criteria applied to the owner's titles: evidence quality, fairness of the mystery, value in pounds, group-size flexibility, and hint support. We do not accept payment for reviews or ranking positions, and no brand — including the owner's — can buy a score.
4. Affiliate links and advertising
Some outbound links to retailers may be affiliate links, meaning we could earn a commission if you buy — at no extra cost to you. Such links are marked with rel="sponsored". Affiliate income never affects rankings or scores. We do not run display advertising or sponsored posts.
5. Prices and accuracy
Prices are checked at the "Updated" date shown on each article and can change; the retailer's page is always authoritative. If you spot an error — a price, a player count, a factual claim — email us via the contact page and we will correct the article and note material corrections on the page.
6. The legal bit
We aim to comply with the UK Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 provisions on consumer reviews and with CMA and ASA guidance on ownership disclosure in comparison content. Nothing on this site presents itself as independent of Cases & Clues, because it isn't.
